Magus
Silky smooth, riveting, awesome; these are just a few adjectives used when one hears the voice of Magus.
Magus Compton Everton Leacock and born in the Guyana, and from a very early age was attracted to music in every way. Though many including his mother thought that being a musician was not the ideal career choice for any person, he however persevered and has become on of the more enduring and classic sounding voices to walk this beautiful Land of Guyana.
Magus’s early steps into performing saw him in the Ronnets a local village band, he then went on to The Hermits String Band where he shared space with the Mighty Rebel one of Guyana’s top calypsonians.

During his career in the early days he studied with Edith Pieters where he was able to improve his profiency as a vocalist, sharpened his skills as a guitarist and broadens his knowledge in theory and practical aspects of music. His first opportunity to perform internationally came when he represented Guyana at the CBU song festival in Aruba in 1984 where he placed third in a competition represented some of the best talents in the Caribbean. He continued to persue his studies in music at the University of Guyana and The Chritchlow Labor College. His constant pursuit of studies in music made way for stints as an instructor in various institutions.

His performing career also progressed with stints in several bands including: The Xanandu Estacy Band, EC Connection Band, GT Music Machine, Mingles Sound Machine, Jahrasalem Band and Simbols from the BVI. Working with these bands afforded magus the opportunity to travel to the Caribbean and North America.
In 2006 Magus linked with Executive producer Geer Meghan who offered him the chance to record in the USA at the world famous ‘Songs of David” in New Jersey.
The album reflects the best side of Magus with songs such as and the eternal classics Fire and Rain……………...His ability as a song writer is aptly expressed in the original  penned by this diverse writer. The experience works of the world famous engineer Commissioner Gordon Williams along with top flight studio musicians Tim Shiner, Rahim, and Guyanese saxophonist Dennis Hilman who plays for Alecia Keys.
Magus is a dynamic performer; his voice is a mixture of the likes of Teddy Pendergrass, Billy Ocean and the soul of Al Green, George Benson and George Michael.
Magus is and will be a force to be reckoned with as he plays the world stage, women will swoon, men will stand in awe as the richness of lyrics, and melody unfolds. Magus.
