The
name Kai is adapted from the spirit of old Kai, the figure in the
legend of Kaieteur Falls. When the duo x2 was born it was decided
by Kross Kolor Records that a pair of dynamic dancers would enhance
their already energetic and old stage presence. There was no need
to look very far since two of the most talented dancers with characteristics
of Klass Attitude and Intelligencewere
willing to be a permanent part of x2 experience. Melissa Roberts and
Ronda Dunbar, became Kai because of the great spirit and enthusiasm
they brought to Kross Kolor Records and by extension x2. Both
have obtained their skills form the National School of Dance under
the expert training from tutors Linda Griffith, Vivian Daniels and
Beverly Spencer. Melissa is also a membe rod the Let’s Dance
Theater headed by Royston Glasgow and Ronda a former member of the
Classique Dance Company and Devine Stars.
Melissa
is a Graphic Designer and assistant manager of the AnR department
of Kross Kolor Records. She have performed extensively across Guyana,at
the Soca Monarch Competition in St. Lucia, and in Barbados at numerous
venues. Melissa is also involved in videography and is part of the
team that filmedchart topping Krazy, Tick Tack, Hands Up. She is
also one of the top female recording engineer in Guyana lending
her skills to many popular jingles and popular songs out of KKR.
As a backup singer she has lent her voice to songs performed by
Adrian Dutchin, Daddy Iroy, Mondale Smith, Seven and numerous jingles
for corporate clients DDL and Sterling to name a few.
Ronda
Dunbar is an extremely talented cancer woman with a enormous passion
for dance. She has performed nationally at Dance Mania and internationally
as part of the troup of dancers accompanying St. Lucian born soca
artiste Gillo on tour in St. Lucia, Trinidad, Barbados, Suriname
and England. Her skills were also portrayed as a dancer in the hit
videos Krazy, Tick Tack and Hands Up. Rhonda is a director of her
own dance school, The New Attitude Dance School, which focuses on
bringing a new approach to dancing in Guyana.
